Communications Manager

NCCER has an immediate opening for a Communications Manager. This individual writes and edits the written message in all print and electronic media to ensure consistent company message and brand identity. This includes creating and facilitating correspondence and for the NCCER President as needed and working with all departments within the organization to develop NCCER’s Annual Report.  The Communications Manager also serves as the Managing Editor of The Cornerstone Magazine , which includes writing articles, managing the magazine website, soliciting articles, managing the magazine publisher, coordinating internal editorial review processes, reviewing design and layout, editing and proofreading.

The position requires the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a detail-oriented and deadline-driven environment. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication and project management skills are required. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism or Communications is required, along with proficiency in Associated Press (AP) style.

Software skills needed include Microsoft Office, contact management and web publishing software. Candidates with at least some experience working with photo editing software is strongly preferred.

Administrative Assistant

NCCER has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant in its Marketing and Build Your Future department. This individual provides administrative support to all employees within the department. This includes:

  • Coordinating and managing departmental communications, including meetings and minutes
  • Coordinating travel arrangements, including flights, hotels and rental cars with travel agent and preparing itineraries for traveling team members
  • Preparing travel expense reports for marketing and Build Your Future employees
  • Researching conference dates and details
  • Calling contacts for information
  • Maintaining the tradeshow calendar for the organization
  • Coordinating with individuals (internally) who will be attending conferences
  • Coordinating conference logistics, including setup, shipping, tear down and registration
  • Packing and preparing conference materials for shipping
  • Unpacking and returning items to inventory and ensuring items are in good condition
  • Tracking conference expenses
  • Tracking and updating inventory of all marketing collateral and other materials
  • Restocking supplies when necessary
  • Collaborating with Build Your Future and marketing, workforce development administrative assistant and executive administrative assistant
  • Responding to requests (internal and external) for materials and resources
  • Monitoring departmental email account(s) and responding to or delegating requests as appropriate
  • Assembling sample kits, trading cards and other requested marketing and/or BYF collateral

The position requires a detail-oriented, organized professional with the ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills are required. The ability to work with all levels of executives, management and staff is essential.  Candidates with experience in travel planning, meeting planning and committee management are strongly preferred.

Software skills needed include Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) as well as contact management software.
