Crane Practical Examiner
A Crane Practical Examinter (CPE) is an individual certified in accordance with the NCCER Mobile Crane Certification Program. Administration of the practical examinations can only be performed by an NCCER Crane Practical Examiner.
CPE Training
CPEs must attend a special training session to administer practical exams. Training topics include:
- Evaluation Methods and Procedures
- Pre-operational Inspection Requirements
- Crane Travel Requirements
- Crane Set-up Requirements
- Target and Slalom Course Layouts
- Operation Requirements
- Shutdown Procedures
- Practical Evaluation Site Safety
- Examination Security and Processing
Candidates for the CPE training program must meet the following prerequisites:
- Must successfully pass the written assessment for either telescopic or lattice boom crane, and
- Have at least four years experience or appropriate crane-related training/education, and
- Approval of an NCCER Accredited Assessment Center
