NCCER Publishes Fifth Edition of Masonry Curriculum

07/15/2025 Press Release

ALACHUA, Fla. – The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) has published the first two levels of the fifth edition of its Masonry curriculum. Developed with experienced subject matter experts from the industry, it is designed to provide the most up-to-date training for prospective masons.

The new edition of the Masonry program includes important updates to reflect industry needs and learner feedback. Notably, the new edition integrates components of NCCER’s Core curriculum, providing trainees with foundational career skills such as communication and employability while enhancing their craft-specific competencies.

Masonry Level 1, designed for trainees beginning their masonry careers, features expanded coverage of safety practices, updated materials handling techniques and enhanced discussions on mortar applications and masonry tools. Masonry Level 2 introduces more advanced topics such as reinforced masonry, construction inspections and the impact of climate on masonry structures. Updated imagery modernizes the content and presentation of both levels.

NCCERconnect digital coursework for Masonry Levels 1-2 is in development. The fifth edition of Masonry Level 3, the final level of the three-part Masonry curriculum, is also in development.
