NCCER Publishes New Edition of Introductory Solar PV Module

08/29/2023 Press Release

The second edition of Introduction to Solar Photovoltaics from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is now available, helping provide foundational solar PV training to meet rising demand.

Released as a standalone offering this summer, this introductory course is the first module of NCCER’s Solar Photovoltaic Installer curriculum. The complete, fully updated second edition of the solar curriculum will be available later this year.

Introduction to Solar Photovoltaics covers the fundamentals of solar energy generation, PV systems and their components, and how solar installation projects happen safely and successfully. The second edition includes updates to reflect modern best practices and industry trends.

The module is aligned with the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners® (NABCEP®) Photovoltaic Associate™ certification test, helping to provide the training required by many states for jobs in the solar sector.

NCCER develops and distributes its curricula in partnership with the world’s leading learning company, Pearson, and ensures that it complies with the Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship requirements for time-based training. Individuals who successfully complete these training programs through an NCCER-Accredited Training Sponsor will earn industry-recognized credentials through the NCCER Registry.
