08/11/2022 Press Release

plumbing 5el1 cover 350x473 1The fifth edition of the National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) Plumbing Level 1 curriculum is now available for purchase. Although minor updates were made in 2019, this is the first full revision of the Plumbing program in 10 years.

In response to industry changes and more plumbers working in the service arm of the profession, updated content in the Plumbing curriculum includes added focus on service to provide the most relevant job skills.

Revisions include updates to tools and techniques, fixtures and fittings, images and an overall redesign that makes it easier for trainees to read and comprehend. Additionally, tables and data from the IPC® and UPC® have been updated with current code information.  The curriculum features additional details about materials and building systems plumbers use such as plastic, cast-iron and steel pipe; copper tube; plumbing fixtures and drain-waste-vent and water distribution systems.

In addition, the Trainee Guide has a modernized page design that presents information concisely with improved readability to help all learners.

With this revision, NCCER has also updated the online learning options available through the NCCERconnect platform. Instructors and students can use NCCERconnect for Plumbing Level One to access self-guided and interactive learning experience, videos, enhanced instructor presentations, interactive figures, flashcards and additional question banks for quizzing, Plumbing Level One NCCERconnect will be available online in October.

To learn more about these updates, join the upcoming Plumbing webinar with NCCER Project Manager Doug Hancock and NCCER Technical Writer Gary Ferguson. The webinar will be held Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. EST.
