ABC Names 2020 Craft Instructor of the Year

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced Bryan Gamble, a certified electrical contractor and instructor for the ABC Greater Tennessee Chapter, was named the 2020 Craft Instructor of the Year. Gamble will be honored during the Careers in Construction Awards at ABC Convention 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee, on Aug. 19.

ABC presents the annual Craft Instructor of the Year Award to an instructor who possesses outstanding creativity, a positive attitude and the ability to transfer knowledge through communications skills and innovative teaching to promote lifelong learning to the future construction workforce.

“Bryan’s dedication to educating the next generation of electricians is evident,” said 2020 ABC National Chair Tim Keating, owner and president of R.C. Stevens Construction Co., Winter Garden, Florida. “With a diverse background in the electrical and construction field, Bryan is able to share real-world examples with his students about what success looks like from a safety, productivity and professional standpoint. He also continues to be a resource for his students after they leave his classroom, as well as his fellow instructors, which showcases his passion for developing our workforce and the strong relationships he builds in his community.”

Gamble started in the construction industry right after high school, working his way up from a laborer to master electrician and small business owner. He has been an instructor for the ABC Greater Tennessee Chapter for more than 20 years, where he impresses upon his students the importance of safety, a sound understanding the of the electrical code and the need to stay up to date on best practices and new technologies.

Gamble also volunteers to perform electrical work for Habitat for Humanity and elderly, fixed-income residents in his community.

As Craft Instructor of the Year, Gamble received a $10,000 cash prize from co-sponsors NCCER, the training, assessment, certification and career development standard for the construction industry, and Tradesmen International, North America’s premier craft professional staffing resource. Gamble will also be profiled in the October issue of Construction Executive magazine.
