NCCER and DEWALT Celebrate National Skilled Trades Day with Donation of Tools

ALACHUA, Fla. – The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and DEWALT partnered to celebrate National Skilled Trades Day on May 1 by donating exclusive packages of tools to NCCER-accredited high schools and community colleges in 21 states across the country. The contribution seeks to enhance career and technical education (CTE) programs by preparing America’s future craft workforce with the best tools and training.

Accredited CTE programs continue to grow in secondary institutions and community colleges, giving students the opportunity to engage in learning relevant to their chosen fields and to apply immediately for a broad choice of high-paying skilled crafts upon graduation.

“With 2.7 million craft professionals needed by 2026, career and technical education programs are critical. We are proud to recognize these schools for the work they are doing to help close the workforce gap. When these students join the construction industry, they will be on a career journey with limitless potential,” said Melissa Perkins, Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships at NCCER. “We are deeply grateful to our partners at DEWALT for providing the tools needed to make these learning experiences possible and help us celebrate these impactful programs.”

NCCER was honored to be named a 2023 DEWALT Grow the Trades Grant recipient for its efforts to provide CTE programs and industry-recognized credentials to students through the High School Builder Program. NCCER was selected as one of 70 organizations that are projected to skill and reskill more than 55,000 people in 2024 with DEWALT’s support.

“Through this strategic partnership with NCCER, we are able to provide future tradespeople with the resources they need to pursue rewarding careers in the trades,” said Maria Ford, President, Commercial Construction, Stanley Black & Decker. “Together, we are empowering the professionals of tomorrow and furthering our commitment to closing the skilled trades gap.”
