News Brief: NCCER Announces the Winners of Bechtel Group Foundation Scholarship
The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and Build Your Future (BYF) in conjunction with the Bechtel Group Foundation are proud to recognize this year’s Bechtel Group Foundation Scholarship recipients.
The 2022 Bechtel Group Foundation Scholarship recipients are:
- Christian Perez Espinoza of Sacramento, CA
- Joseph DeFeo of Mahweh, NJ
- Shelby Hanks of Beaumont, TX
- Nadine Robertson of Chalmette, LA
BYF and the Bechtel Foundation are providing this scholarship opportunity to further reduce barriers to construction training and education.
Scholarship winners were chosen based on academic merit and their passion for construction and their chosen craft. Each student will receive $2,500 to further their education
“I am honored to be a recipient of the Bechtel Scholarship for 2022. I never thought in a million years that I would be a chosen winner,” Shelby Hanks tells NCCER. “I started this degree as a mom of three and used that drive to pursue my dreams of being a college graduate. With this scholarship I am that much closer to making my life and my family’s life more successful.”
“The Betchel scholarship will allow me to continue my pursuit of obtaining NCCER Instrumentation levels 3 and 4 credentials. These credentials are an invaluable asset to have in the wastewater industry,” Nadine Robertson tells NCCER. “This training will allow me to perform my job more efficiently and lessen repair costs to an already underfunded and failing infrastructure.”
