NCCER Launches CraftPro to Unlock Full Potential of Construction Workforce

08/25/2026 Press Release

New workforce training solution removes barriers and empowers contractors to maximize productivity and profits.

ALACHUA, Fla. – The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), announced today the release of CraftPro®, its innovative online craft training tool designed to enable contractors, regardless of size, to train and upskill their teams. NCCER believes this will revolutionize construction education by providing contractors the ability to choose the targeted training their employees need without the cost of an onsite trainer or the expense of pulling workers off the jobsite. This new solution addresses a need in the construction industry as many contractors struggle with the logistics of providing effective training programs while they face record backlogs amid a workforce shortage.

Research shows craft training results in a substantial return on investment through increased productivity, reduced rework and reduced employee turnover. More importantly, according to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), a lack of training is the leading cause of jobsite injuries. With CraftPro, that training becomes easily accessible for all contractors and their employees.

A CraftPro video is displayed on a phone. “The workforce shortage is an industry-wide issue, but the real challenges are felt by individual contractors as they see fewer qualified candidates applying to open positions. They must be able to build better teams,” said Boyd Worsham, NCCER President and CEO. “CraftPro will allow more companies to invest in their people through self-guided learning and shape the skilled workforce their company needs for the specific types of work they perform.”

CraftPro courses are self-paced and mobile-friendly, enabling individuals to train when they have time regardless of where they are. Rich instructional videos, in English and Spanish, delivered by industry experts walk learners through challenging concepts and demonstrate hands-on skills for key competencies. Courses also include interactive activities to extend and reinforce knowledge, recommendations for experiential skills practice, self-review quizzes to ensure learners grasp the concepts and help them practice for the course test, as well as performance evaluations for contractors to assess increases in field performance.

With a library of crafts and courses, contractors can choose exactly what they need their people to train on. This initial release includes a complete offering of electrical and pipefitting courses, with a range of concrete, carpentry and drywall courses included and more being added in the coming months. Additional crafts and courses for key disciplines are currently under development and will be available in the near future.
